Who We Are

Our founder, Dr. Tin Mar Lar Thein, herself as a Food Technologist always fond of eating healthy and delicious foods. In this point, she start to notice the health benefits of fermented foods which is less sugar content , sodium content and also their good effect on promotion of a healthy digestive system. So, she and her mom decided to make fermented drinks themselves. They brewed varieties of fermented drinks: Ginger Ale, Kombucha, Kefir, Fruit Enzyme, Tepache and even homemade wine.

Even though they started brewing it for their own consumption. Soon their friends and friends of their friends were asking them for their fermented drinks, since they also couldn’t find local made healthy and delicious drinks with reasonable price anywhere except foreign imported healthy drinks. She didn’t really plan for it to become a business, she just liked brewing and drinking healthy drinks for herself and for her beloved people.

So, what started as an experiment for her family with all of love, quickly became a passion and led to the foundation of Sweetie Home Food Production in 2019 – the first fermented drinks online shop in Myanmar!

In 2024, our naturally fermented products are primarily available at popular supermarkets in Myanmar, including Marketplace by City Mart, City Mart supermarkets, and Ocean Supermarkets.

All About Ginger

It is and always has been important to us to exclusively use local crops to take a small part of improving the local farmers’ agri-business, and for the beverage to stay 100% natural, even when playing with different flavors and types. As a main raw ingredients, we use local ginger which was grow in southern Shan state mainly.

According to Winrock International, 2016, southern Shan state is producing over 5000 metric ton of whole ginger per year. Among them, 60% of it was exported to foreign countries and only 40% is used for domestic usage.

Ginger is not a popular crops in Myanmar and mainly use for cooking, parting of traditional medicines and brewing tea only.

In 2019, pandemic hit globally and most local crops were suspended for exporting foreign countries and it seriously effects to income of local farmers including local ginger farmers. In the same time, people start to look for healthy drinks and foods to boost their immune system for preventing diseases. But it is not easy to find such kind of healthy drinks and foods in local market.

To solve those problems, we wanted to do something to increase the domestic usage of whole ginger. We started to brew the specialty fermented drinks: Ginger Ale and Ginger Plum Kombucha as a valued-added ginger drinks by using local whole ginger.

We intended to increase the domestic usage of whole ginger by creating innovative food products to sell on modern trade markets beside traditional usages of whole ginger. It is locally available healthy fermented drinks for our local customers who is looking for healthy and all natural fermented drinks to improve their digestive system and to boost their immune system in natural way.

It is win-win situation for our local customers to serve healthy and affordable fermented drinks and our local ginger farmers to create the new market channel.
